Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a silver arch upon a red scroll doubled and inscribed GATEWAY TO SUPPORT in silver letters, enclosing a medium blue (oriental) background bearing a silver sword and silver chevron charged with a blue chevronels wavy, all counterchanged.

Symbolism
Red, white and blue are our national colors.  The chevron represents support.  The home of the group, St. Louis, is symbolized by the arch; the blue wavy chevronels recalls the confluence of the two rivers in the region, the Mississippi and Missouri.  The sword denotes military readiness and total support.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 7 September 2000.
